Training Period (Approx. 2 Weeks)
18.43 per hour PAYE (Core Days)
Night Shift Rates
24.51 per hour PAYE
Rising to 25.60 per hour PAYE upon achieving Stamp Status (typically within 3–6 months)
Overtime
Weekdays: 27.65 per hour (28.88 once stamped)
Weekends: 36.86 per hour (38.50 once stamped)

07:00–15:00
Core Night Shift
Monday–Wednesday: 20:00–06:00
Thursday: 19:00–04:30
9.5 paid hours per shift (30-minute unpaid break)
The Opportunity
Morson Edge is currently recruiting for Skilled Fitters to join a leading aerospace manufacturing programme based at Western Approach, Bristol.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on advanced aircraft wing assemblies and sub-assemblies within a modern aerospace manufacturing environment. You&8217;ll play a key role in assembling composite and metallic aircraft components using specialist tools, fixtures, and techniques, ensuring all work is completed to exacting aerospace standards.
Working as part of a highly skilled team, you&8217;ll contribute to the production of complex aircraft structures while benefiting from ongoing training, development, and long-term contract opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and trim composite and metallic aircraft components
Drill, ream, and countersink composite and metallic structures
Set aircraft components within calibrated build jigs
Carry out deburring and under-head radius preparation of aircraft components and assemblies
Perform fettling activities using approved and calibrated tooling
Use nut runners and pre-set torque equipment during assembly operations
Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing instructions
Maintain high standards of workmanship and product quality
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety requirements
Self-certify completed work in accordance with approved processes and standards
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification
Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience assembling aircraft components using engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
Experience working with composite and metallic aircraft structures
Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing techniques and quality requirements
Ability to work accurately to close tolerances
Good hand skills and attention to detail
Key Skills
Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances
Good hand skills and coordination
Ability to interpret aircraft drawings, limits, and quality requirements
Experience operating CNC machinery and associated processes
Self-motivated team player with strong communication skills
Ability to work independently and within small teams
Willingness to undertake further training and development
Understanding of composite manufacturing techniques and processes
Ability to take responsibility for self-certification of completed work
Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office applications
Assessment Process
Successful candidates will be required to attend an on-site trade test assessing practical competencies including:
Drilling
Riveting
Countersinking
Working with composite materials
