WE’RE LOOKING FOR A SUPERVISOR, METALLIC MANUFACTURING
POSITION LOCATION: FORT ERIE
The Supervisor, Metallic Manufacturing reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing and is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Metallic Manufacturing Department, while ensuring the delivery of on cost, on quality and on time parts to internal and external stakeholders. The Supervisor is also responsible to continually develop employees and ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Production
Responsible for the safety of all employees, product, processes and working environment within Metallic Manufacturing.
Identification and remediation of safety hazards or unsafe practices.
Supervise and coordinate all Metallic Manufacturing production activities to achieve TCOs and KPIs
On time delivery
On time quality / quality escapes
Right First Time
Production hourly rate
Non-productive time bookings (indirect hours)
Program hours (budget vs actual)
Premium freight
Liaise with supporting departments to ensure smooth production flow and escalate roadblocks to meet customer deadlines and company KPIs
Adherence to production schedule and requirements through monitoring and allocating resources (labour and equipment) appropriately.
Identify risks and opportunities to develop mitigation plans for risks and actions plans for opportunities
Ensure regular reporting of metrics to Management
Ensure all Metallic Manufacturing employees are trained, and cross trained, for success and training methodology is documented addressing recognized needs and deficiencies
Assist HR with recruitment of employees as required
Maintain a tour ready production environment at all times (5S Practices / FOD Awareness)
Supports new business development opportunities
Team Management
Lead and mentor production technicians for alignment with Airbus values & behaviours
Develop and advance relationships with key stakeholders within AHCA to ensure clarity, consistency and continuity when dealing with business or personnel issues.
Uphold the Airbus Values and Vision and promote a speak up culture
Work to develop a culture within manufacturing that promotes communication, trust, empowerment, innovation, continuous improvement and problem solving
Support with management of the budget and other financial measures of the Manufacturing department
Complete annual training, goal setting, performance management and development talks for all team members .
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Experience
5 years working experience and knowledge in the area of metallic manufacturing, machining or a similar environment
3 years direct supervisory experience, preferably in manufacturing
Experience in the aerospace industry preferred with AS9100 and NADCAP
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities
Strong understanding of production scheduling, workflow management and operational efficiency
Demonstrated capability and knowledge in the processes, equipment (setup, operation and maintenance) and limitations of each used in metallic manufacturing, namely:
CNC Mills, NC Mills, lathes, manual machining, router table
NC brake, manual brake, stretcher, former
General process grinding, polishing, sander, shear
Assembly, riveting, drilling, reaming, etc.
Knowledge of C / COV and B / BOV machining processes and dynamic component repair procedures
Demonstrated knowledge in the heat treatment process, specifically AMS2750 and the processes surrounding TUS and SAT.
Knowledge of the processing requirements/mechanical properties of different types and tempers of materials
Familiarity with the design, construction and use of dies, jigs and fixtures for assembly, fabrication and machining to produce finished products
Reading and understanding of engineering drawings to determine process sequences and equipment required
Ability to read and write g-code using CAM software and at the machine controller
Mathematical ability
Metrology and tolerancing
Technical Systems Proficiency
SAP Extended user (inventory management, time booking adjustments, labor reports and queries)
Proficiency with Google Suite
EngraveLab 7 familiarity
AXYZ Toolpath
Mastercam
ISO G-code
