Our Connected Aviation group is thrilled to offer a Senior Systems Engineer role within our Air Traffic Systems (ATS) team in Marlborough, MA. As part of the ATS team, youll be instrumental in developing the next generation of a services based Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) and supporting our existing fielded systems. What You Will Do:

• You will work on the cutting-edge STARS air traffic control system, the backbone of air traffic management in the United States.
• You will join a dynamic systems engineering team dedicated to modernizing the STARS system under an exciting new contract.
• You will drive innovation by developing services-based elements for existing legacy system.
• You will provide solutions to complex problems by suggesting ideas and prototyping new algorithms or updates to existing ones.
• You will play a key role in verifying these requirements ensuring the highest standards of performance and safety.
• You will have a direct impact on modernizing air traffic control across the country.
• You will obtain a US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) clearance.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant experience in systems or software engineering or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 3 years of prior relevant experience in systems or software engineering
• U.S. citizenship is required - Only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under these programs/contracts.
• Prior experience in Java, Python and C/C ++ programming languages
• Prior experience creating microservices

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Knowledge of Docker or Kubernetes container development
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Prior experience working with a legacy code base and MATLAB for algorithm development
• Prior experience with IBM DOORS, Atlassian Jira, Confluence, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Prior experience with Red Hat Linux 9.x.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
