Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

Oversees, leads and directs the day-to-day responsibilities of the Powerplant Engineers and Powerplant Analyst to optimize Powerplant life and cost management.  Oversees the development of an overall life view and repair expectation tracking to optimize cost with reliability.  Audits manufactures’ shop visits and projected workscope to ensure life cycle is balanced with cost.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Conducts commercial discussions between the company and the Engine Manufactures and/or PBH agreement holders to resolve issues.
  • Organizes and approves plans to achieve the most optimized life management of the power plants.
  • Assists the finance and accounting teams in assembling and validating all supporting data to facilitate the pass through process
  • Manages engineering team as required to ensure life cycle management is followed
  • Receives, reviews, assigns, and tracks requests for engineering assistance in area of responsibility.
  • Applies experience and/or knowledge of business processes and Powerplant maintenance to determine LLP removal best practices.
  • Main technical focal point to assist Contracts, Finance, and Materials departments to develop contractual terms of Powerplant maintenance agreements.
  • Communicates with partners and internal teams associated with the process, responds to inquiries, resolves open items in a manner equitable for all organizations
  • Screens, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring potential associates.  Coaches and provides leadership, direction, motivation and supervision of direct reports.  Appraises performance, provides performance feedback, takes corrective actions and oversees training and development of staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Develops and manages a departmental budget.
  • Fosters the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.
  • Screens, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring potential associates.  Coaches and provides leadership, direction, motivation and supervision of direct reports.  Appraises performance, provides performance feedback, takes corrective actions and oversees training and development of staff.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree (B.A./B.S.) in Mechanical, Aeronautical Engineering or related technical field or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in a 14 CFR Parts 121 Powerplant Engineering role. 
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience. 
  • Requires a thorough understanding and working knowledge of all appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of 14 CFR. (i.e., Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121) and manuals required by 14 CFR Parts 121 and 133.  FAA Airframe and Powerplant license. 

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • At least 8 years of related experience. 
  • GE, PWC, or RR trained in engine build up/break down/overhaul. 
  • Six Sigma or LEAN processes training. 
  • Minor in Business Analytics or 3 years in commercial/economic decision making processes.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

DECISION MAKING

Makes decisions daily on use of resources, performance and budgets.  Decisions could require additional expenditure of resources if not sound decisions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Able to focus with clear vision at 20 inches or less (computer screen).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Typically not exposed to extreme environmental conditions.
  • Able to work nights, evenings, weekends and holidays to support 24 hour operations.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel up to 10 of the time, including overnight.
