The Advanced Lead Engineer will demonstrate leadership in designing, developing, manufacturing, applying, and testing advanced instrumentation sensors for all engine lines within Development Engine Assembly and Instrumentation Operations (DEAIO). This role is pivotal in driving business success by leveraging extensive experience and problem-solving expertise to develop and execute objectives for both individual and team contributions. Sensors include pressure, strain, and temperature on the newest parts and materials, including CMCs, with data used to determine engine and hardware performance, diagnose issues, and ensure safety monitoring. As a team lead, the Advanced Lead Engineer guides work assignments, fosters collaboration, and communicates goals, programs, and processes to achieve impactful results. With the ability to influence both short-term priorities and long-term strategic goals, this position is integral to advancing organizational objectives and ensuring the success of instrumentation operations.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
- Provide engineering direction, specifications, procedures, and drawings for the application of instrumentation to development engine hardware to meet quality, safety, and functional objectives.
- Establish sensor requirements to meet customer measurement needs on all types of engine components, including pressure, strain, and temperature sensors.
- Use UG and VisMockup software to develop functional instrumentation application designs and define engine mechanical rework and interface requirements.
- Document technical data generated by assigned projects consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Provide technical leadership to personnel and cross-functional teams supporting assigned projects, including instrumentation mechanics and design drafting teams.
- Develop and implement action plans to respond to issues/problems and meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems.
- Lead or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues, providing recommendations to meet technical and program requirements.
- Conduct analytical and experimental improvement studies, particularly on CMC hardware, and monitor/validate the application of various sensor types onto components and assemblies.
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical design reviews and program reviews, ensuring timely communication on significant issues or developments.
- Interface with personnel external to the instrumentation organization to address complex tasks and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- At least 3 additional years of experience in Engineering position.
